October 2026: Tom Yawkey Wildlife Center

Spend the day birding and exploring one of South Carolina’s most important coastal conservation areas at the Tom Yawkey Wildlife Center for our ducks & birding day.

This immersive field experience highlights the role of managed wetlands, brackish marshes, and longleaf pine forests in supporting waterfowl, migratory birds, and diverse wildlife communities.

Please note: This trip requires the ability to walk up to three miles round trip, with walking at multiple locations. The outing runs approximately four hours and goes rain or shine. The walk begins at 10:00 am; please arrive by 9:45 am.

Bring mosquito spray, binoculars if you have them, and a bag lunch including a drink. Spotting scopes are welcome.

Park at the South Island Public Boat Landing. From the yellow gate at the end of the road, you’ll see the pontoon boat travel across the water to pick everyone up at one time.
